| Our ACT of Thanksgiving outreaches will always hold a special place
in my heart as my first time in Zimbabwe was over
Thanksgiving 2005, making this my third Thanksgiving in Zimbabwe. Each year I have seen God put together a team of people for this ACT of Thanksgiving that is uniquely gifted and willing to serve. This year, it has been a pleasure to serve with several old friends, while also making new friends as well. It is such an honor to serve with people who are coming here for the first time and it is such a reminder to me of how much God has changed me in this place. There are major differences between the nervous, bug-fearing girl that stepped off the plane in November 2005, and the woman that writes this today. Thanksgiving, for us in America is a time to gather with friends and family and to acknowledge what we are grateful for. The past two years of being in Zimbabwe have given me a deeper sense of gratitude than I have ever known. This trip was special to me because I was able to help my American friends and Zimbabwean friends join together in service in the villages around Victoria Falls that I love so much. Seeing this family work together is such a gift. I cannot express how grateful I am that God has entrusted me to serve in Zimbabwe. Everyday I am reminded of how my life has changed since the moment that I felt the call to Zimbabwe and obeyed. What an adventure! Throughout my entire life, I longed for a Thanksgiving where my whole family could gather together. For many years, this holiday was a reminder of how divided and unhealthy we were. This year as I looked over 700 people in the eyes and shared with them about the love of Jesus, I knew that I had finally been given the desire of my heart.
