What an AWESOME
Thanksgiving in Africa!
Thank you, Thank you all who made this wonderful outreach possible!
Thanksgiving 2007 was a great example of Thanksgiving in ACTION.
*see photos and volunteer comments below.
A team of American volunteers
rendezvoused in Johannesburg, South Africa and traveled together to
Zambia and Zimbabwe for the ROCK of Africa Mission outreach effort
an ACT of Thanksgiving.
This outreach addressed
the critical needs facing southern Africa in November, which is
springtime in the southern hemisphere. These volunteers gave up
their Thanksgiving holiday with family and friends to give a hearty
Thank You by helping people facing great difficulty.
It was Thanksgiving
(in America).
So, the
ROCK of Africa Mission Outreach Team prepared an Africa-Style
THANKSGIVING
FEAST
with plenty of food for everyone.
The seasonal rain is
about to come and CROPS MUST BE PLANTED NOW.
So, the ROCK of Africa Mission Outreach Team brought
SEED
so families
will be able to plant gardens and provide for themselves.
Everyone literally cheered when they learned they would receive
seed. They didn't want a handout, they simply wanted a hand so
they could provide for themselves.
Spring rains bring the
MOSQUITOES SPREADING
DEADLY
MALARIA.
So, the
ROCK of Africa Mission Outreach Team brought
MOSQUITO NETS
to protect families from the dreadful disease. 20% of Zambian
babies do not live to be 5 years of age, because of malaria. A recent study
in the UK determined that every mosquito net statistically
equals one year of life for a child.
HIV/AIDS and despair is
overwhelming the region and people need a PATHWAY TO LIFE AND HOPE.
So, the
ROCK of Africa Mission Outreach Team brought
BIBLES.
We served and blessed
several villages and communities in Zimbabwe and Zambia.
It was an AWESOME
Thanksgiving. Please read comments from the outreach volunteers
